How does your website appear on the web? is it nice to look at but ineffective? Are you not grabbing enough of the web traffic out there? How do you rank in Google against your competitors?
It is both good and bad that Google has such a large percentage of the search market, it’s good in that if you can please Google (seo), your site will generally perform well and within a known range of expectations. It’s bad in that if you consider the millions of new webpages published each day, there is no way that anything other than an enormous computational machine can attempt to make sense and present it as search results. Why is that bad? It’s bad because it doesn’t understand ‘semantic language’ or ‘close enough’. It only understands exact actual keywords and therefore if you aren’t using the same keywords as your customers, they won’t find you. It’s really, really common to find customers not talking industry speak!
The service I provide is to review the keywords for which your website is currently optimised against the search engines and against the keywords optimised by your competitors. The analysis of the current keyword focus can sometimes be eye opening and may indicate areas of opportunity as well as areas for improvement.
I can do an initial analysis of the current keywords and present that to the client with an position on current keyword effectiveness when compared to the global keyword marketplace and your competitors.
A more accurate analysis would take place over a longer period. I would ask you to add a little piece of code to your site so I can monitor the search keywords used by your visitors. With this I can look at deep-linking patterns within Google, which bits are viewed as more relevant and valuable to them. I can provide a more useful insight based on a month or longer of data rather than a snapshot.
